Inside the Sanyo M-G12, we can see a very clean and simple circuit design with very few wires soldered on the audio board. If you need to repair your unit, then the photograph above shows where the wires connect and how the traces should appear.

PCB Removed

With the audio board out of the way, we can gain access to the transport mechanism, and here we see that it has dual flywheels, even though there is only one capstan and pinch roller.

Audio PCB

The audio board has a preamplifier IC, power amplifier IC, and motor regulator IC.

LA4178

The LA4178 is a stereo power amplifier IC manufactured by the Sanyo Corporation. It was a popular IC used for driving a pair of headphones.
