Sony WM-EX23 Review
The WM-EX23 is a very basic player with a light plastic body, but it has some technology advances worth mentioning.
The EX series was a strong drive towards a greener product, and consequently the design reduced the use of metal components. Instead of screws, they used plastic locking tabs. The pushbutton assembly is plastic, and the transport mechanism mounts directly on the printed circuit board. Consequently, this unit is extremely light, and ideal to carry on long journeys.
The sound quality is very good and the Sanyo LA4582 integrated circuit (IC) does a good job in the circuit design. Coupled with Fontopia style headphones, many people will enjoy the sound quality, and consider it to be above average.
The tape speed is smooth, even though it uses a conventional motor, and the unit provides approximately seven hours use with Sony Alkaline AM3 (N) batteries.
