Hitachi SR-2000L Tuning String

The Hitachi SR-2000L uses a tuning string to move the pointer along the scale. Unfortunately, it requires removing if one wishes to gain access to the underside of the main board for repair. This article shows various images of how the tuning string installs.

Here is a top tip; the string around the variable capacitor pulley is the most critical, so before you undo it, get some tape and secure that part of the string so that it remains exactly as it is. This will make life so much easier when replacing it during construction because then you will only have to install it around all the other pulleys.
