The Sony D-NE1 had extremely good engineering, and in this article, you can see photographs of the digital volume control, and the jog lever control. The other side of the PCB has the chipset including the system control microcontroller. It is astounding that they were able to pack so much technology and make it operate for such long durations on battery power. Spare parts are getting scarce for this model, and when the laser mechanism finally comes to the end of its useful life, it will be time to look for something else.
