Prinztronic Asset Inside Look

The PRINZTRONIC ASSET has a VFD tube which looks like a radio valve. This is of course a very early design of displays. There is also a µPD274C microprocessor manufactured by the NEC Corporation, and this IC contains the display driver circuitry, thereby reducing the PCB component count.

The Mannics DC25 is a dc-dc converter module, which generates the required voltage levels for driving the microprocessor and the display. Since this IC required large negative voltage rails for the display, this was the only way to design the power circuit resulting in a power consumption of 0.2-watts.
