Philips SHP2500
The SHP2500 wired over-ear headphones were available in 2015 and manufactured by the Philips Corporation. These were corded television headphones with in-line volume control and 6 m long wire for indoor use. The 40 mm drivers have frequency response of 9 Hz to 23 kHz, and the headphones are equipped with acoustic reflector technology for enhanced bass performance. They have an impedance of 32 Ω, sensitivity 95 dB, and maximum power output of 50 mW. These are mid-range specification with Mylar dome diaphragm, copper voice coil, and ferrite magnet. In this article, I disassemble mine for cleaning purposes, and the photographs will be useful to those who are interested in changing the ear-pads.

Review
The silver/black plastic construction with forked cup holders, they seemed strange, and the headband profiling seemed rather ugly, however when I put them over my head, I was blown away with the comfort and wonderful low bass that they produced. I always find Philips designs to be thoughtful and leading edge and in this design, we see specially angled ear-cups that ensure the best injection of sound into the average human ear. The full-sized ear cups not only make a good job of porting audio waves into the ear, but also encases the ears completely to provide the best sound isolation. Consequently, these were more comfortable to wear over a long-term than those where the cups press on the ears, resulting in painful earlobes.
The headband is robust and the holes provide good ventilation so your head does not get hot. The acoustic reflector technology certainly works, and you will love these headphones if you like low bass. They marketed these for TV listening because modern DVD films usually have low frequency effects, and you will certainly hear them with these headphones.

Price/eBay
The SHP2500 are usually for sale online and the price can vary considerably in the pre-used market. You could pay as little as 10 pounds or as much as twenty pounds for a new graded pair. People who like enhanced bass will certainly find it difficult to let these go. Many people overload them with high volume levels from their amplifiers; consequently, some units will have damaged voice coils and diaphragms. Those ones usually exhibit low sound levels and crackle in the audio. In the following pages of this article you can see the inside driver, and technology used when I disassemble mine for service and cleaning.
