PBM8 500 MKII Inside Look
The PBM8 500 MKII has a very robust plastic case, and the only way to gain access to the inside is by removing the front panel. There are some obvious looking screws fixing it and undoing those detaches the mixer panel from the rest of the case. The manufacturers have thoughtfully terminated all the wires with sockets; hence, it is possible to remove the front panel completely without soldering.
As you can see, there is plenty of space inside all around the metal chassis, which provides air circulation. The metal chassis fixes to the back wall of the plastic case; hence, it requires removal from there in order to gain access to the power transistors.
Metal Chassis
In this photograph, you can see the metal chassis, to which the transformer and PCB are attached.
Toroidal Transformer
The transformer is very impressive looking, and robustly mounts onto the chassis together with its heatsink metal plates. All the best quality amplifiers use these types of transformers.
