Computer Logic Lab Review
This Computer Logic Lab is a vintage product from the mid 80s. An educational kit such as this is still valid today because the basics of electronics are the same today as they were then. I thought the diagrams and the explanations were clear and the circuits were interesting. Compared to some of the modern kits I have seen, this vintage one seems to be well designed for the purposes of education. Simple learning blocks such as digital gates is explained well, and there are example circuits to make visible and audible gate experiments, which would be useful for the blind or deaf.
Educational Value
You learn simple concepts such as the application of buffers, divide-by-two counter, and half-adder, which would be extremely useful at college level as well. Hence, this lab caters for a wide age range. There are some good points with this lab worth considering. For example, it makes the transition from transistor-based flip-flops to NAND gate based flip-flops. Hence, when your whippersnapper reaches college, he or she will be familiar with this type of circuitry.
