Crown SZ-31 Review

Front View

This is a very basic player for the budget end of the market and has a Sanyo look and feel to it. The sound quality through the supplied headphones is average, producing more midrange than treble or bass. If you replace them with the Sony MDR-W15 or anything better, then the sound quality will improve dramatically.

It has a very simple electronic design based on the new Mitsumi integrated circuit (IC), which produces clear sound, and sometimes it is nice to listen to sound exactly as it is without alteration by equalisers, and bass boost circuits. I liked the clean minimalistic circuit design of the IC and I quite like the sound because I had something like this in the 80s, which faithfully reproduced the audio without changing it too much.

For the Walkman collector, this cassette player is worth collecting. They are usually very cheap on eBay, and you could have all three colours in your collection. I am starting my collection with the red first.
