Denon AVR-1610 Problem – Standby Flashing Red
The AVR-1610 has an elaborate protection system and usually the power indicator will flash red at intervals of 0.5-seconds if the speaker wires are shorted. When the protection circuit is activated, the speaker terminals are isolated and the power supply goes into a standby state.
If the amplifier is overloaded, by impedance less than that specified in the manual, and with the volume excessively high, it is possible for the power output transistors to overheat thereby causing the amplifier to go into protect mode. In this case, the power indicator will flash red at 2-second intervals.
Removing the short or overload condition, and allowing the amplifier to cool usually helps, and the amplifier may be able to operate again. If the red light always remains flashing and the amplifier remains in the protect mode, then it may require servicing by a qualified service engineer.
