STR-DE485 Back Sockets
The STR-DE485 has all the basic sockets that an entry-level system would have. Notice that there is no phono input for a record player/turntable, and therefore you will have to use an external preamplifier for RIAA equalisation. This model also does not have multi-channel-in RCA sockets so that you can input each channel of the surround sound individually. However, it does have optical and coaxial digital inputs. The coaxial input is for a high-speed digital stream and therefore you will need a very good quality wire for it. It is common for users to use a cheap wire and find that the sound is choppy. The engineers from Sony Labs have also provided a subwoofer signal through an RCA socket; hence, you will need an external amplified loudspeaker to gain the full advantages of this feature.
