Canon AL-1 Mount and Lenses

The Canon AL-1 Quick Focus (QF) mechanism will operate fine with a large number of the high quality Canon lenses in the FL and FD series. As usual, the FD lenses will operate with full aperture metering, whilst the FL operates in stopped-down mode. Full aperture metering is when the lens diaphragm remains wide open until the instant you take the shot.

The following lenses are not compatible with the AL-1 mount.

• FL 19 mm f/3.5
• FL 58 mm f/1.2
• R 58 mm f/1.2
• R 100 mm f/3.5
• FLP 38 mm f/2.8

The following lenses are not compatible with the AL-1 meter.

• FL 50 mm f/1.8
• FL 35 mm f/2.5
• R 50 mm f/1.8
• R 35 mm f/2.5
• R 100 mm f/2
