Tuned Circuit Q Value
The Q value is often termed "quality" or "goodness". A high Q value is essentially a higher peak in the resonance curve, which has narrower bandwidth and greater selectivity.
In this tuned circuit, the resistor R represents the resistance of the coil. Reducing the resistance R of the coil results in increasing Q. Practically, if you were building a simple AM radio receiver, then you would use a thicker coil with lower resistance.
