Olympus Trip 35 Film Loading

The Olympus Trip 35 uses the Easy Loading (EL) system, which is one of the fastest ways to load a film. The speed with which you can load a film is crucial in photography otherwise; you miss all the action whilst fiddling with spools and sprockets. To install the film, lift the film-winding crank, also known as a cranking handle. Then insert the film cartridge, and press the winding crank back down.

Then pull a very small amount of the leader film out of the cartridge and align it across the sprocket gears. The narrow leader part of the film then threads into the slit in the take-up reel.

Professionals will often press the shutter release button and forward the film by a frame to stretch the film evenly across the exposure chamber. Then close the metal lid, and click and wind until the counter displays the first frame. Once you have the first frame ready, suddenly you will become David Bailey ready to take some snaps.
