As you can see from the PCB, this meter does not have a fuse to protect it from over current situations. The printing on the card suggests that the maximum current this meter can measure is 500 mA, which is half an ampere. What would happen if you pass more current through this meter? Chances are that an over current situation could damage it. The traces on the PCB could burn, perhaps some surface-mount device (SMD) resistors could burn, or worst case, the meter coil could go open. Consequently, although this meter is cheap, it may not last long if you are working with currents larger than half an amp.
