Sanyo M4440 Tape Transport
The Sanyo M4440 transport mechanism is all-metal including the pushbutton mechanism. The metal components have a glossy black finish to them and their fabrication indicates extreme precision. There is a large and wide pinch roller and a thick capstan spindle that is very reliable at pulling the tape uniformly and evenly. The d.c. motor seems very reliable and continues to operate without any loss in performance. As you can see, some of Sanyo’s earlier products were well engineered which makes them very desirable to use even today.
Tape Path
This stereo cassette player had an auto stop mechanism, which works by sensing the tension in the tape. It works fine even today. There is a black glossy finish to the surfaces of all the metal components, which reduces friction and makes the linkages slide easily.
