Toshiba KT-4046 eBay

The Toshiba KT-40xx series stereo cassette players are sometimes for sale on eBay in varying states of completeness; however, the KT-4046 is a rare one that I have not seen often. The price always depends upon its state and completeness, and for collectors, condition is everything.

A common problem was with their tape spool spindles popping out and the cassette player is not much use without them. It is also difficult to get replacement spares, and even if you could find the replacement spindle assembly from another unit, you would be looking at a day of your time to install it.

A broken one with a missing spindle on one side could sell for around five pounds; with both spindles missing, I would estimate two pounds. A complete working one in mint condition, in its box, with the headphones, would cost approximately twenty pounds or more depending upon the number of collectors interested on the day.
