As power supplies go, the best designs are the simple textbook ones. This one is a straight forward design consisting of a centre tapped transformer, a bridge rectifier, and a pair of Nichicon capacitors. The design provides a split rail for the STK465 amplifier chip.

The Japanese-designed power supply is very reliable and this generally never fails.

This amplifier has a wonderful Japanese transformer that seems to work even today without any loss in performance. The transformer mounts to the side of the metal chassis.

On the transformer label, it indicates the manufacturing origin, which is Japan.
