Canonet 28 Bottom Cover Removed
Removing the Canonet 28 base plate reveals a clockwork shutter cocking mechanism. It consists of a linkage pin, which connects to the rest of the shutter mechanism behind the lens. You can see that part of the mechanism by removing the front plate.
Battery acid can cause this part of the mechanism to jam; therefore, I cleaned it with a neutraliser and lubricated it. A lot of dirt came off, and now the film advance has a smooth action and the shutter makes a sharp clean clicking sound.
