Olympus OM10 Battery
It is very simple to check and replace the battery, and the first thing to do is to determine if it holds a sufficient charge. The replacement is LR44 (A76), which is a 1.5 V alkaline-manganese cell. You can also use SR44 (EXP-76) silver oxide batteries. Since I am on a low blogger budget, I found an equivalent, at my local pound store. They usually sell a large card with button cells, and I found many replacements on that which will serve me well for many years.
Battery Check
Rotating the selector dial to the "Check" position should result in a beeping sound, and the LED at the front of the camera illuminating. The absence of this indicates depleted batteries.
Battery Change
Open the battery compartment hatch by unscrewing the metal cap. You need to insert two replacement batteries with their negative side facing down.
Here is the metal cap or cover, which screws back after replacing the batteries. There is a plus sign inscribed on the cap to indicate that the positive terminal of the battery is in contact with it.
Notice how high the batteries are. They need to be sufficiently high enough to make strong electrical connection with the cap.
