Marantz CD-330 Heads

3-Head Recording System

The Marantz CD-330 was supposed to be the ultimate in sound quality, and therefore the manufacturers designed the "3-Head Recording System", which consisted of a recording head and the playback head situated side by side. This enabled the operator to "read back" the audio signal using the playback head, during a recording session. This way you can monitor the precise audio signal recorded on the tape.

Permalloy Head

Since this tape recorder was high-end, they used super hard "permalloy" material for the construction of the head.

AC Bias

The recording system used is quarter-track stereo, with AC bias.
