T-100F Repair

Versions of the National Panasonic T-100 series usually turn up on eBay in various states. This is an old radio, so expect some scratches and plenty of dust. I managed to get mine from a seller who gave up trying to repair it. Consequently, he ended up taking parts out of three similar radios to make a good one.

I managed to get all three working and restored two to a near perfect condition; however, one requires the bottom half of the cover. If you have a broken one you are throwing out then consider sending it to old Pete.

When I bought this radio, it was in an awful state and completely dead. It did not even making a crackling sound when switched ON. After some diagnostics using my AVO 8, I was able to deduce that the fault was with the germanium transistor in the second IF stage and a diode in the ratio detector. It did not take long to repair it and within a few minutes, I had it fully working again. The difference between a genius and a member of the institute is quite a lot actually!
