Sony CF-270L Inside

The Sony CF-270L has a plastic chassis and the whole chassis pulls out of the outer case to make servicing easier.

The 3-watt bass speaker is quite loud, and you can see the paper cone vibrating at full volume. The addition of rubber washers between the speaker and the chassis to provide vibration isolation improves the sound immensely.

Servo Control Board

This small circuit board is the servo control board for the motor. The purple wires provide a feedback signal of the speed to the servo board. You can tell straight away from the smooth speed with which it plays cassettes that there is something special about the tape drive.
