Behringer HPS5000 Double Magnet Driver Mod

Back View -- Without Additional Magnet

I managed to get two pairs of pre-used broken Behringer HPS5000 headphones, and after checking their drivers, I discovered that only two of the drivers were working whilst the remaining two were showing open coils in the meter. I figured it would be a waste to throw away their cobalt magnets so I decided to make a little experiment. It occurred to me that if I attach the powerful magnets to the back of the other magnets on the working drivers, I should be able to almost double the magnetic field strength. This should increase the flux density and consequently make the voice coil even more sensitive, thereby improving the definition further.

With the additional magnets, the treble now matches my Sony V55 headphones, and since the Behringer, headphones demonstrate better bass, overall they sound nicer! This is the only pair I have now that sounds better than the V55.

Cobalt Magnet

The magnet attracts to the back of the other magnet on the driver, however I also used a drop of super-glue to attach it permanently. Now I am the only one in the world to have drivers with double magnetic field! I should call these headphones my precious...
