Avometer Model 7 Mk2 Repair

Repairing the AVO Model 7 Mk2 can be difficult if there is damage to the meter movement. However if the voice coil is burnt then there is very little you can do to repair it. I managed to buy one meter on eBay, which had a burnt meter coil. I managed to repair it by winding a new coil, and the amazing thing was that it worked better than before because I was using a newer lighter coil, however the time it took made the whole task uneconomical.

These older meters had a very robust meter movement made out of aluminium parts in order to qualify for use by the army, however with the later designs such as the Avometer 8 Mk5; they made the movement more sensitive, but it was also more prone to damaged by knocks and drops.
