Panasonic RX-1950 Cassette Compartment
The Panasonic RX-1950 cassette compartment and deck is of robust design. You can see the metal chassis under the plastic deck. The cassette fits in the compartment very precisely due to the high precision manufacturing. Panasonic have always been good at manufacturing high quality components in their design resulting in a very enjoyable user experience.
Removable Cassette Compartment Lid
An interesting feature of this personal stereo cassette recorder is that the top lid of the cassette compartment detaches easily, thus allowing easy servicing and cleaning of the tape transport components.
Audio Magnetic Head
The Panasonic magnetic audio heads were some of the best in the electronics industry. This one appears to be their design. It has an unusual design, which I have not seen elsewhere, however the sound quality is superb for a conventional head. These heads are fine, however it all depends upon who designs and manufactures them.
Erase Head
The erase head is a permanent magnet that simply engages into the tape path when the user pushes the record button.
Tape Transport
As you can see, there is an extremely thick capstan spindle, and a nice wide pinch roller to pull the tape.
