Panasonic RX-1950 Metal Chassis
The Panasonic RX-1950 has a metal chassis, and the tape transport mechanism is robust. The pushbutton tape controls have metal linkages and springs and still operate well today. This unit has miniature metal screws, springs, pillars, and washers, which contributes to the weight to make it a heavy robust unit. It is a beautifully crafted piece of engineering which would be difficult to find today.
Transport Mechanism
There is one rubber wheel that can wear out affecting the performance. The plastic cog-wheels can crack, therefore use this unit with great care because replacement parts will be difficult to find.
Pushbutton Assembly
As you can see, the unit has metal linkages and springs for the pushbutton assembly.
Counter Mechanism
This little unit even has a counter mechanism driven by a rubber drive belt.
