Panasonic RX-1950 Inside
The Panasonic RX-1950 is a highly engineered stereo cassette recorder. In this photograph, you can see the printed circuit board (PCB), and the surface-mount device (SMD) components. People often think of SMD as a new technology, however, this is one of the earliest examples of the pioneering work. As you can see, the component density is high, and on the other side, there are conventional components.
If you need to repair your unit and need to compare the tracks and soldering, then here are two very high resolution images that might help.
DC Motor Regulator
Interestingly, they kept the motor regulator PCB separate, and there are neat wires connecting it to the main board.
SMD Components
In this photograph, you can see the resistors, capacitors, and transistors. This is a very precise construction which would have been partly constructed by hand. There is exceptional detail and effort that went into the engineering of this unit, which gives it value.
eBay
This stereo cassette player often turns up on eBay and other auction sites. It is becoming rare, but it is not so rare that you will not find one. The price can vary greatly depending upon the auction fever and the condition of the unit.
