G. I. Joe Walkie Talkie Set Power Supply

The G. I. Joe Walkie Talkie Set operates only on batteries, and requires one PP3 9 V battery in the field unit, and another 9 V battery in the phone-style handset. Of course, you can only receive a transmission if you leave your set switched ON. However, that will mean power usage, which will drain the batteries fast.

It is possible to modify this set so that it could draw power through a mains adapter when it is indoors. Installing a barrel socket would be extremely simple as there is plenty of space in the plastic case.

I installed mine in the glasshouse and it operates on solar power. My cats usually spend time in it, and in the evenings, I use it to let them know the food is ready. When they hear my voice, they come running.
