Walkie Talkie G. I. Joe Repair
A common fault with a small minority of G. I. Joe walkie-talkies was the aerial mounting breaking. This usually happened on both the handset unit and the field unit. Usually the base of the aerial screws to a plastic pillar, however, over time, this pillar breaks leaving the aerial free to move around in the case. In this article, you can see that it is possible to repair it easily using a hot melt glue gun. I used a large amount of hot glue in additional places to firmly secure the aerial and now it is extremely robust.
A small piece of wire usually connects the aerial to the printed circuit board (PCB). There is an obvious looking pad with solder and no wire, where it solders. After reattaching the aerial and a little cleaning, the walkie-talkies were ready for use.
