Sony WM-FX193 Radio Design

Sony WM-FX193 radio design is interesting. As you can see from the PCB marking, its manufacturing was in China, and there were three versions of it to cater for different domestic markets. There are a few conventional components for the radio circuitry; however overall, the PCB is bare.


Ferrite Coil

This shows the TOKO tuning coils, and the ferrite rod for AM radio reception. It is a very simple and neat construction, as one would expect.

Today, modern gadgets such as mobile phones can receive radio transmissions.

Tuning Capacitor

This shows the tuning capacitor, which is very low profile and does the job very well. There are also some resonators for the oscillator circuits.

Tuning Mechanism

The tuning dial is behind the cassette lid, and a flexible plastic strip moves the dial needle as the tuning knob turns.
