Roboraptor Remote Control

The Roboraptor infrared remote control is very simple to use. The buttons on the left are direction controls, whilst the buttons on the right are to set different moods and modes. If you have installed new batteries and find that your remote control does not work, then one quick troubleshooting technique is to check for the signal LED. If this LED does not light when you press any button, then chances are the unit is not receiving power. One simple thing you can do is to clean the battery terminal springs within the battery compartment, and make sure the batteries are new.

I found my Roboraptor not responding to the IR remote even after changing the batteries and I was puzzled why the remote controller was not working. One problem I noticed was that it had to be in very close proximity (approx 2-foot) to the dome part on his head. The other problem was that the robot had to be facing towards the remote controller. If he was facing away from the controller, then he will not receive the signals.

Opening the dome part of his head, where the infrared (IR) sensors are situated, I discovered two sensors facing mainly forwards. On my unit, I raised the sensors slightly, in the hope that they would be able to receive the IR light more easily but it made very little difference. I was very tempted to install another sensor inside the tail to receive IR light when he is facing away.
