Psion Series 5 Motherboard Memory Side
return

On one side of the Psion Series 5 motherboard, they soldered the DRAM memory chips. This board came out of an 8 MB version; hence, there are four DRAM memory chips, each 2 MB in capacity. The MSM51V16165D is a 1048576-word × 16-bit Dynamic RAM chip. After researching the processor address space, I managed to figure out that a good hack that had some chance of working would be to upgrade the memory by soldering in some higher capacity memory chips. If I find any, then I shall have a go. If you have any old computer memory chips, perhaps a 1 GB SIMM module made of four 256 MB chips, with 16-bit word length, then that would be useful!

3.6864 MHz Oscillator Crystal

This side of the board also has the oscillator crystal, which the overclocking community might like to know. If you use this palmtop computer just for basic word processing and spreadsheet application, then it might be more advantageous to reduce the clock speed, thereby increasing the battery life!
