SideWinder Force Feedback Pro Throttle Assembly

In most designs, traditionally the throttle assembly has always been a simple potentiometer slider, however in the SideWinder Force Feedback Pro; they use optical technology for the throttle assembly consisting of an extremely complicated mechanism. The engineering is of course impressive as the designers went to great effort to ensure accurate control. As you move the throttle knob, a plastic pillar underneath, moves through an arc distance, pushing a plastic linkage at the end of which there is an optical component.
