Sanyo MGR 80 Tape Transport Deck
The tape transport deck is the side where the cassette sits and the tape must traverse precisely through the mechanism. The tape has to travel at a uniform speed and remain within the guides whilst it passes over the audio head. In this unit, the tape speed is fairly smooth, and I would guess the wow-and-flutter to be approximately 0.3 % just from hearing a cassette. The Sanyo MGR 80 also has a metal deck and guides that help to maintain the tape path.
The capstan spindles are extra thick and the pinch rollers generously wide. The tape guides are also metal and on both sides. All of this helps to maintain a precision tape path ensuring the highest audio quality.
