Sony WM-FS493 Sports Case

The WM-FS493 and WM-FS495 Sports Walkmans have identical waterproof cases. As you can see, they use a clamshell design, consisting of two halves of the case. The orange coloured beading around the cassette lid provides a waterproof seal so that the batteries and circuit boards remain dry within the enclosure. For the tape transport push-buttons, they use rubber glove-type design for the water seal. If you manage to get water into the unit, then there is also a water drainage hole (on the side) with its rubber sealing mechanism.

As you can see, the display circuit board has the circuitry for the LCD clock, and radio presets, and this is attached to the top-half of the enclosure.
