Sony WM-FS493 Display Board

The WM-FS493 display board is situated under the cassette compartment lid, and this board has the µPD1724GB IC that is responsible for driving the LCD display, radio tuning functions, memory presets, and clock. There is usually a very thin plastic ribbon cable that connects this board to the main board. This cable, known as the tuner flexible board (1-655-819-11), can crack and break because of its proximity to the lid hinge causing it to bend when the lid is opened. If you cannot get a replacement cable, then the only other alternative is to solder another cable in its place.
