Kenwood KR-V6060 Review
This Kenwood KR-V6060 is a huge beast measuring 440 mm × 143 mm × 334 mm. It has a conventional transformer with an iron core and as a result, its mass is 9.5 kg. This is a Japanese design made in Singapore, manufactured to high quality standards. I have found Kenwood amplifiers to be great workhorses designed to last a long time, and a robust amplifier like this can continue operating for many years without any problems.
This is a very reliable amplifier, and the most common problems tend to be due to misuse, and in particular overloading by hobbyists. However, it is very forgiving as there is plenty of protection within the circuit design.
Although it lacks a digital input, as DTS did not exist then, it has a good range of RCA inputs for almost anything one might want to connect. There is also a built-in preamplifier for a phono input, so that the owner can connect a turntable.
It has a lovely huge master volume control that makes a statement to say that this amplifier has a big sound.
This is a high-end Kenwood amplifier, with a servo controlled master volume. As you can see, there is a motor to drive the volume control knob.
