Sony ATS & Tape Sensor

The Sony WM-EX610 has "ATS" and "Tape" sensor switches to detect the type of tape inserted in the cassette compartment. If the relevant sensor switches are not closed, then the microcontroller assumes there is no tape in the unit and will not play when the button is pressed. Therefore, when servicing the unit it is often better to solder these terminals to simulate an inserted tape.

Switch Sensors

These switches are very delicate and often clogged with dust preventing good electrical connection. If your unit does not start with a new battery, then this is the place to check with a meter.
