Sony WM-EX610 Audio Head

Sony WM-EX610 has a four channel audio magnetic pick-up head, and therefore reads all four tracks on a standard cassette without having to flip the cassette over. This is of course a part of the auto reverse design. A very well designed and manufactured head can last for many years providing you use good quality ferric tapes. The performance of this one is still the same as when new.

To gain proper access to this part of the unit, I usually remove the cassette lid, which involves removing two screws near the pivot. The cleaning with denatured alcohol is more thorough this way, and the pinch rollers as well as the capstans are easily accessible.
