Cleaning the Drive Belts

Clean the belts and pulleys removing any rubber particles that have worn off. If you can gain access to the inner pulleys, then clean those as well.

Procedure

A very small amount of denatured alcohol in a lint-free swab cleans the drive belts very well removing any oil and rubber residue on the surface. Usually, engineers clean the pulleys first, without the belt in place. Then install a cleaned belt, and then clean it second time round in case any spot of oil has managed to get on the surface.
