Sharp CE-152 Tape Transport
The Sharp CE-152 has a robust tape transport mechanism built upon a metal chassis made from die-cast alloy. The push-button assembly and linkages are also made of metal components.
Erase Head
In this photograph, you can see the tape path and the erase head. The NEC tape recorder chip provides the erase bias for the erasing function. You can also see the auto stop triggering lever in the tape path.
Pinch Roller
This tape recorder has a very wide pinch roller and chrome plated capstan spindle, which pulls the tape smoothly.
Record / Playback head
This head records on both the left and right tracks of the tape. Both tracks receive the same signal, as it is a mono unit. This is very useful as the inside track is the best place to record digital data. There is no wasted space, as more magnetic surface area used means better reproduction.
