bigtrak Motor

Open gearbox showing the motors.

The DC motors are an integral part of the sealed transmission box. This minimizes any dust or debris entering into the cogwheel gear train.

A view of the gearbox.

DC motors in the gearbox

It appears to be a Mabuchi type motor and nothing unique. Replacement motors are cheaply obtainable from places such as eBay.

Motor plan view.

The motor and its PCB slot into the plastic enclosure, and there are no screws securing the motor.

Fitting recess.

As you can see, I have removed the motor here so you can see the enclosure recess better.

The motor.

A small printed circuit board connects to the motor.

PCB

The PCB has some SMD capacitors for EMF noise suppression.

Magnetic synchronisation.

Magnetic clutch coupling.

The motor shafts have magnets attached to form a magnetic clutch assembly. Since the poles of the magnets always stay aligned, it keeps the motors in synchronisation. This is why this toy is able to travel in a straight line.
